Rise & Shine: Memorial Day Edition: One Mile at a Time
🏁 The Memorial Day Mile: A Career Lesson in Disguise
Every year, my family runs the Memorial Day Mile — and every year, it sneaks up on me.
I’m not a runner (cardio and I are not best friends), but I show up anyway. One year, I even bought new running shoes an hour before the race. Another year, I carried my daughter for part of the mile because she was certain her legs were done.
What do these moments have to do with your career?
Everything.

✅ How to be specific about your target role & companies
✅ How to highlight your key accomplishments & skills

Rise & Shine: The Whole Person Approach to Career Success
When I coach clients through career transitions, job searches, or salary negotiations, I don’t just focus on their resume, LinkedIn profile, or interview skills—those are only pieces of the puzzle.
Instead, I take a Whole Person Approach to career coaching because who you are outside of work directly impacts who you are at work.
And this doesn’t just apply to career coaching—it’s something leaders need to understand about their teams, too.
Rise & Shine: The Boundaries You Set Shape the Life You Live
Struggling with Boundaries? You’re Not Alone.
I used to think I had to be available 24/7 to prove my value at work.
📧 Checking emails on family vacations.
💬 Answering Slack messages at the dinner table.
📞 Taking work calls while my son had a 103-degree fever on Thanksgiving.
I had ZERO boundaries.
Why? Because I was chasing:
✔️ The next promotion
✔️ The next raise
✔️ The next “over and above” performance review
Without realizing it, I was trading my time, energy, and presence for temporary validation.
If this resonates with you, it’s time to rethink the boundaries you set—and the ones you don’t.
In this week’s Rise & Shine newsletter, I will break down:
✅ Why we struggle setting boundaries
✅ How to recognize what’s holding you back
✅ Simple, effective ways to start protecting your time NOW

Rise & Shine: Discovering My "Why": Empowering You to Find Joy in Your Career
Happy Monday, Friends!
In today's fast-paced world, it's all too common to find ourselves merely going through the motions, especially in our professional lives. I've been there, and that's why I'm passionate about helping others break free from this cycle. My mission is to guide you toward a career that not only pays the bills but also brings genuine happiness and fulfillment. How many moments in your life have you stopped and asked yourself, “How did I even get here?” All too often we just let life happen to us, rather than us dictating what life we are going to create!
Rise & Shine: Finding What Energizes You
Have you ever ended a day feeling completely drained and wondering why? Or maybe you’ve had those rare days when you feel unstoppable, energized, and at your best? Learning what fuels you versus what depletes you is a game-changer—not just for your productivity but for your overall happiness and well-being.
In her book Dynamic Drive, Molly Fletcher talks about the importance of understanding your energy dynamics: the activities, tasks, and people that energize you versus those that drain you. It’s a concept that changed how I approach both my personal and professional life, and today I’m sharing how you can apply it to yours.
Start With Awareness
The first step to finding what energizes you is awareness. Pay attention to your day-to-day activities and ask yourself:
What lights me up?
What leaves me feeling depleted?
What tasks do I look forward to, and which do I procrastinate on?
Once you identify these patterns, you can make intentional changes to balance your energy more effectively.
Rise & Shine: Welcome to Your Career Reboot
If you’ve ever felt that sinking dread on a Sunday night, knowing another uninspiring Monday morning is around the corner, or you’ve been stuck in a frustrating job search that feels like it’s going nowhere, you’re not alone—and you’re in the right place.
The career journey can feel like a rugged mountain with no clear path and at some points in your career you may feel alone. When all you need is for the sun to finally come out, the clouds to clear and for the next best path to finally come into sight.
At Rise Up Career Coaching, I work with professionals like you who are ready to make a change but feel unsure where to start. Whether you’re looking to:
Transition to a career that aligns with your strengths and passions,
